Bluebeam's passion for rally started in 2010, when the software company traveled to Sweden to unveil the first international version of their flagship software solution, Bluebeam® Revu®.
It was during this visit that Bluebeam was introduced to the fast-paced world of rally, and from that moment on their passion for the sport took off full throttle. Soon after, two Bluebeam-branded Opel Corsas filled their stable. Before the year was out, the first Bluebeam Rally Team was born and began to make a name for itself in the Swedish Rally Circuit.
The First Big Turn
The taste for the extreme led Bluebeam to pursue rally beyond their team in Sweden. In 2010, they sponsored driver Patrik Sandell's Skoda Fabia S2000 when he took Rallye Deutschland in the S2000 World Rally Championship. Then in 2011, they pushed the limits even further by sponsoring two-time World Rally Champion Marcus “Bosse” Grönholm as he won silver in his Ford Fiesta MK7 during RallyCross’ Summer X Games debut in downtown Los Angeles.
Taking the Holeshot
By early 2012, Bluebeam was ready to take their presence in rally racing to the next level and partnered with Ford Racing and Olsberg Motor Sport Evolution (OMSE) to sponsor Toomas "Topi" Heikkinen full time for the 2012 Global Rallycross Championship (GRC). The young, up-and-coming Finnish driver fit Bluebeam’s image to a T with his fearless, take-no-prisoners driving style. Piloting a Bluebeam-inspired , OMSE-built turbocharged Ford Fiesta, Topi took the GRC by storm – and not because of his infamous crash during the 2012 Summer X Games, but because he set a new standard for the future of rally racing. In 2013, Bluebeam stood by Topi once again as his precision driving earned him 8 podium finishes, and the title of GRC Champion.
Building a Lead
In 2014, Bluebeam tapped Joni Wiman to be their next wheelman for the new GRC season. Joni took the GRC Lites division by storm in 2013, placing first in every race to establish his status as a rising star. Now backed by Bluebeam, in partnership with Red Bull Racing and OMSE, Joni is moving up to the big leagues to race against rallycross legends like Tanner Foust, Ken Block and Travis Pastrana in the Supercar class of GRC. Though he’s entering a new and challenging level of competition, Bluebeam is excited to see Joni prove that with hard work, skill and speed, there are no limits to what he can achieve.
