5. Location, location, location
The race is going down at the Circuit of the Americas, home to the only Formula One Grand Prix in the US. The auspicious location is sure to set the scene for what could be the biggest race of the year.
4. The driver lineup is ridiculous
The Red Bull Global Rallycross roster boasts some big names and incredible talent, but the playing field is going to the next level at X Games. Off-roading star Ricky Johnson is coming out to X Games, as well as extreme sports legend Travis Pastrana. European rally stars Liam Doran, Anton Marklund, and Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen will also make their way back to the states for one mad dash at X Games medals.
3. Joni and Topi face off
Speaking of Topi, we’re stoked to see our 2012-2013 driver back in the states, and can’t wait to see how he plays with our new driver, Joni Wiman. They’re both young, Finnish, and fast. It’s sure to be a showdown, and we’ll be on the edge of our seats.
2. Bucky Lasek
Shout out to this X Games veteran! He’s talented, he’s a nice dude, and he kind of looks like Jack Sparrow. All things we appreciate.
1. It’s the freakin’ X Games
Yeah, we’re a little sad that they’re not gracing our hometown of Los Angeles this year, but if we had to concede the throne to someone, we’re glad it’s Austin. With a killer downtown bar scene and live music around every corner, we see the appeal. We’ll let ‘em have it, for now.
Catch the race live on Saturday, June 7 at 1:30 PM ET on ESPN, then continuing on ABC at 2:00 PM ET.
